@KrrishWellbeing: From time to the timeless:

The river was wide and ancient and somewhere not far from its bank was a group of boats that that were anchored together, this indicated a holy spot where another river is said to have merged with it. Mythology and legend had emphasised that in this very spot where the two rivers met a third river emerged and the confluence of these three rivers was the holiest of all spots. To take a dip there would wash away the sins that one had committed and possibly free the past and the future generations of sin. Using the cluster of boats, which were all tied together to create a sort of pontoon, a group of about ten people that were conversing in a vernacular dialect of the local language were instructing each other in order to get the maximum benefit of the holy dip that they were performing. Though the warm afternoon sun had brought with it the heat of the ensuing Indian summer the water of the river was surprisingly cold as was evident from all the shrills and commotion that one could hear coming from the makeshift pontoon.
Observing all this from a quiet space of my own on the bank of the river I began to think of the words karma, suffering, sin and virtue . It quickly dawned on me that the people I had been observing bathing in the centre of the river, who were supposedly washing away their accumulated sins by plunging into these holy rivers, were simply acting out of centuries of conditioning and hearsay. The dip in this holy confluence would do nothing to transform them, yet they had come here possibly spending a lot of their savings, convinced that they must do what their forefathers had laid down. In witnessing their enslavement to conditioning it occurred to me that my perspectives may be more aware but there was a subtle form of conditioning that ruled me too. That I too was a prisoner, may be my cell was bigger and had more light, yet I too was a prisoner, a prisoner of circumstance, of desire and of my intelligence.
As the educated lot we forget that our ideas are borrowed too. That the ignorant and the informed are simply two ends of the same spectrum and all of us no matter what our status are subject to time and its dictates. So no matter who we are we must encounter that faithful imposter called death. Yes, no matter who we are we may be wise or ignorant but we are identified with our limited self and our identities must end someday. In order to lend a sense of timelessness to ourselves and the immortality of our beings the words, sin and virtue were coined. This would then make our life on this earthly plane a dimension where if we were to adhere to virtue we would have a better afterlife, if we did wrong we would suffer. It suddenly occurred to me that 'time', as perceived by the ego was about self preservation, hence created by the mind. Therefore the physical or the spiritual were simply divisions created by the same source, thought. In essence it was not a question of life and death, but of time and the timeless. Mans inability to understand the timeless had conceived the concept of continuity.
The timeless had revealed itself centuries before on the banks of this holy river to a sage who had bathed in these waters. He then had inspired and awakened many after him. Further tradition had created a myth to bring people here to preserve the secret, that what man had been searching for all through the centuries lurked here, somewhere ready to reveal itself to some capable soul who would further continue and inspire humanity.
Those simple pilgrims who were now almost done with their dip were not so ignorant after all. That it was me who was judging tradition that was foolish and conceited and with one glimpse of the eternal their sins and my cell of perception could all be washed away. In this land of myth and mystery wherever something of spiritual significance had transpired a tradition or a ritual had been ordained to preserve the wisdom and essence of that moment. As moments are an imprint on time and what else is life but us revisiting time itself.
Traditions are tremendously important especially our spiritual traditions for they carry the secrets of ascertaining to the timeless through the ages.
